A DONATION FROM THE NOW CLOSED PATZICIA SCHOOL
On Saturday, March 28th, Mario, our Regional Director in the Patzicia area, contracted a truck to haul a donation of 110 student desks, 6 white-boards, 6 computers, each with its corresponding table, and other miscellaneous items, donated by Humberto, from the now closed Foundation School in Patzicia, to Federico, our Director in Santa Cruz Verapaz, . The truck driver picked up Mario and his wife at 3:00 AM Sunday morning and they made the 6-7 hour trip to Santa Cruz Verapaz, Alta Verapaz.
Mario, the truck driver, Federico, and Elena, Mario's wife, happy to have arrived in perpetually green Alta Verapaz, after a tiring 7 hour trip.
Along with the 110 student desks, were the 6 computers and their corresponding tables we see here with Mario and Federico. The Foundation spent around $400 to transport the load to Santa Cruz Verapaz from Patzicia a trip of from 6-7 hours.
All pitch in to help unload, including Mario's wife, Elena.
Federico and Mario inspect the 6 computers that were donated.
Everything was moved into a large storage room you see below.
Federico and his helpers will now go to work repairing, painting, and getting everything in working order, while he consults with the area rural schools and the Ministry of Education to see where everything will be put to good use.
By the end of April we will post an update on how all of this wealth of equipment will be put to use blessing the lives of needy rural children.
Humberto also donated to Mario filing cabinets, furniture and a computer so he can create in a corner of their simple rural home a Foundation Office, which we also will be showing all of you in a future photo/essay and newsletter.
Now we will begin accumulating funds to begin helping 8 rural village schools that don't have a kitchen to prepare the daily nutrition supplement.
OUR DIRECTOR NEEDS OUR HELP: I was just advised (Tuesday, April 7, 2015, 11:00 PM) that Mario has come down with hepatitis, and kidney stones.....and to help him we just transferred to Guatemala $530 to help with his treatment. So the needs are never ending and we hope and pray that we will all help as much as possible to keep this good working moving forward.
FEDERICO'S PICKUP'S MOTOR DIED!
In one of our updatings we have mentioned that Federico's 1987 4x4 pickup, used in all of our projects over nearly 30 years, finally bit the dust and needed a rebuilt motor. Federico has borrowed money from a bank to get it fixed and be able to continue as our volunteer director--now in his 43rd year of doing so....an amazing record with no equal we know about.
We need to help him pay this off as soon as possible, as interest rates in Guatemala are extremely high. PLEASE HELP ALL YOU CAN.
